Millions of people are being told that they have chronic, lifelong, mental illnesses and that they just need to accept it.

‘1 of 10 individuals aged 5 to 24 years globally live with a diagnosable mental disorder. That's almost 300 million children and young adults.’

Decades of research now suggest that mental disorders are metabolic disorders of the brain.....

High blood sugars, Hyperglycaemia and Mental health

Abnormal blood sugars can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction/ oxidative stress, which can damage the brain…especially pronounced in the hippocampus (cognition and memory).

Metabolic dysfunction in the brain cells is linked to symptoms ranging from depression, eating disorders, OCD, schizophrenia, age related cognitive decline like dementia and more.

The culprit?

A diet high in carbohydrates, sugars, seed oils and ultra processed foods results in metabolic dysfunction and the decline in mitochondrial function largely responsible for some of these symptoms.

It is time to change our approach…..

If someone comes in with a rash all over their body, an average healthcare professional will immediately prescribe an antihistamine or steroid cream.

A good, conscientious healthcare professional will try to find out the cause of the rash.

Mental health care should be no different.

A brand new approach?

A diet low in carbs, sugars, seed oils and rich in good and natural fats, Ketogenic diet significantly improves and in some cases reverses these mental health symptoms.

Dietary fasting and Time restricted eating has yielded remarkable results in the management of Huntingtons disease.
