Routinely consuming a high carbohydrate diet has its consequences.

As blood sugar levels rise, insulin secretion is increased to cope with these higher levels of glucose in the body.
Not only do insulin levels in children predict diabetes and metabolic disease,
they are also associated with a 5-fold increased risk for having a
"psychosis-at-risk mental-state.”
