The energy currency of your body is ATP.
Not calories....Not carbs. ....Not fat.....

ATP is generated by the mitochondria of each cell, from metabolising glucose or fat.
When you are metabolically inflexible due to insulin resistance, you can’t access your own fat for energy, so you can’t lose weight.
You don’t become obese overnight.
You don’t develop fatty liver disease & type 2 diabetes overnight.
You don’t develop heart disease overnight.
You eat your way to insulin resistance & chronic inflammation over many years leading to all of the above and more.
This does not imply that you overeat it simply means that you habitually consume foods that damage your health. Over consumption of carbohydrate rich foods over a sustained period of time, will undoubtedly damage your metabolic health.
The answer to the question:
Eat good quality protein and fat
Never begin your day with carbs
Lift weights
Pay close attention to your sleep routine
Stop counting Calories, instead work with a professional to train your body to become Metabolically Flexible.
